Our Roots
Sourcery was founded in 2020 with the belief that agriculture holds immense potential—but the traditional commodity trade system, in place for nearly two centuries, is holding it back. Trade must be transformed for good.
Today’s system is overly complex, fragmented, volatile, and opaque. It cannot deliver the scalable commercial, social, and environmental solutions necessary for the future of industry and our planet.
Sourcery began as a professional services firm. In 2023, we began our transition into a digital sourcing and trade platform to accelerate the transformation of trade for good at scale.

The Chasm.
Between consumers, brands, and retailers on one end—and producers, processors, manufacturers, and traders on the other—lies a persistent market disconnect we call “the chasm.”

Homogenisation of fibre, food, timber, fuel and other raw materials commodity varieties.

Sourcery began as a trade facilitation and advisory services firm, supporting early Partners—brands and retailers, manufacturers, civil society organizations, certification bodies, and technology providers—in executing transactions, collecting impact data, and designing innovative finance and trade solutions.
The Digital Transformation of Trade for Good.
Through this work, we developed the Sourcery Solution framework that included the Transparent Trade, Intelligent Impact, and Bluechip Exchange solution pillars—a comprehensive approach that empowered Partners to transform trade for good.
As our impact grew and more of the sector began adopting this approach approach, we recognized the need to scale our solutions further—beyond pilots and individual projects to entire businesses, supply chains, and eventually the broader global market reaching million of growers and having deeper impact on our industry, its people and the planet.

Sourcery Partners recognize that the future of trade depends on their collective leadership, investment, and shared ownership of the transformation. Grower, Manufacturer, Trade, and Brand Partners can earn or purchase equity in Sourcery by demonstrating a clear commitment to transforming trade for good.
Sourcery founders have reserved up to 75% of all outstanding share equity in Sourcery for Partners to earn or through the Sourcery Equity Credit Programme and by making direct equity investments in Sourcery. 2. The Sourcery Equity Credit Programme includes a five (5) year vesting period whereby the volume traded through Sourcery can earn equity credits that are then be used to purchase and transfer in shares that can hold a value of up to $250,000 USD.
